Transitional Living Program
Do you need to continue to improve academic skills before transitioning to a college program?
Do you want to gain work experience to enhance your resume?
Do you aspire to live independently in the future, but need to increase your skills?
The Transitional Living Program is designed for deaf or hard of hearing young adults who desire to have more preparation to transition to the word of work or post-secondary education.
To be eligible to apply to enroll in TLP, a student must have satisfied graduation requirements, but not have received his/her JR/SR High diploma. Once accepted into the TLP program, a student is eligible to participate in TLP until the day before their 22nd birthday.
TLP focuses on enhancing academics, employment skills, independent living skills, volunteer experiences, and participation in a variety of presentations and fun activities.
ACADEMICS
Transition Skills High School Class
- Course focuses on employment, banking, money management, comparative shopping, medical, health, family living, and community service.
Career Technical Education Courses
- Courses are designed to give students hands-on opportunities to explore future career possibilities.
- Courses include: Autobody, Automotive Comprehensive, Automotive Detailing, Automotive Technician, Baking, Computer Assisted Drafting, Food Service, Graphic Communication, Graphic Design, Keyboarding and Formatting, Metal Manufacturing, Orientation to Industrial Occupations (OTIO), Video Production, Web Page & Interactive Media Development, and Woods Production.
Academic High School Classes
- Curriculum focuses on continued improvement of academic skills.
Community College Courses
- Students may enroll in non-credit and/or credit courses at Lincoln Land Community College. Students are responsible for course fees.
DORMITORY
Students develop independent living skills under the supervision of ISD dormitory staff.
